A renowned Islamic Schokar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has died today, Thursday, 27 November, 2025 at the age of 102 at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital ATBUTH ,Bauchi.
His funeral Prayer will be tomorrow Friday in Bauchi .
Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi was born on (2nd Almuharram 1346 A.H. according to Islamic Calender)
He was born in Nafada when it was under Bauchi State but now it is under Gombe State, Nigeria. Currently, he is living in Kofar Gombe, Bauchi State, Nigeria.
He started his Islamic education from his biological father, Alhaji Usman where he became a Hafizul Qur-ān (Memoriser of the Glorious Qur-ān) before the age of 20. He also studied from so many great Islamic Scholars within and outside Nigeria. He said his greatest Islamic Scholar is Sheikh Ibrāhīm Inyass. Immediately after some years, the great Islamic Scholars he is learning the Glorious Qur-ān from them confirmed him as a Professor of Qur-ānic memorisation and education. Also, one International Islamic Organisation awarded him as one of the Greatest Mufassirun (translators of the Glorious Qur-ān) in the world.
He started his Tafsīr in Bauchi State in the year 1948. He spent 76 translating the Holy Quran years.
In the year 1976, the Bauchi Radio Corporation started airing his Tafsīr on radio. Also, in 1980 he relocated his Tafsīr to Kaduna State and in that same year, Radio Nigeria Kaduna started airing his Tafsīr. Now, most of the radio stations in northern Nigeria usually air his preachings especially during the Holy Month Of Ramadān.
Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi has performed Hajj 55 times in his life and he also performed Umrah (lesser hajj) more than 205 times in his life time. He has more than 1000 houses in Bauchi State and Kaduna State as well as some other States in northern Nigeria for his children and students scholars live free of charge. He also has so many Islamic schools and farmlands.
He is among the Great Famous Islamic Scholars in Nigeria who has uncountable number of followers within and outside Nigeria. Indeed, he has wisdom in terms of preaching that made uncountable number of unbelievers to accept Islam through him especially during each Ramadān fasting. He always encourage people to worship only one God (Allāh) alone and encourage Muslims to always seek for forgiveness, praise & thank Almighty Allāh for all the uncountable blessings he showered on us and send salutations to our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)

Family life
Bauchi was blessed with a large family comprising 100 children, 406 grandchildren, and 100 great-grandchildren, Sheikh Bauchi’s legacy of Qur-ān memorisation continues. Remarkably, 78 of his children, over 199 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren are also teachers of the Holy Book, balancing both Islamic and western education.
Sheikh Dahiru was a towering figure in Islamic scholarship —Bauchi Gov.
Governor Bala Mohammed in his condolence message on Thursday, described the Cleric as a “towering figure in Islamic scholarship, a man of deep faith, humility, and wisdom.
According to Mohammed, his lifetime was devoted to the propagation of Islam, the teaching of the Holy Qur’an, and the moral and spiritual upliftment of humanity. Through his numerous schools and learning centres, he nurtured thousands of students who went on to memorise the Qur’an and spread Islamic knowledge across the African continent.”
He said that the late Sheikh’s immense contributions to theology, Islamic jurisprudence, and history have left an indelible mark on the intellectual and spiritual landscape of the society. “He was not only a custodian of religious knowledge but also a unifying voice for peace, tolerance, and understanding among Muslims and people of other faiths.
“As we mourn this monumental loss, we take solace in the fact that Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi lived a life fully dedicated to the service of Allah, humanity, and knowledge. His legacy will continue to illuminate the path of generations to come.”"
Many Islamic Scholars and his disciples the extolled the essential qualities of late Sheikh and thank almighty Allah.
They said the scholar can look back and be proud of his unblemished record of service to islam and humanity, throughout his
Life he has been a selfless and steadfast leader, and a patriot with uncommon zeal who has dedicated almost his entire life to the service of islam and humanity .
They said Our country is lucky to have this great man and dedicated scholar who lead with unassailable integrity. History will be kind to him and record his contributions to the progress, unity and stability of Nigeria in volumes.“
Mallam Ahmad Tijjani Saeed said " Maulana Sheikh left a rich legacy of a life lived in the service of Allah, his nation and humanity.
“As a man of peace who is always worked towards reconciliation, reconstruction and revival in all leadership positions, aptly captures in many verses in the Holy Quran
Mallam Ahmad Tijjani Kolo, Sanusi Ahmad and Muhammad Sogiji commended the wisdom and courage of Maulana Sheikh when he was alive , he always speak against tyranny, corruption and social ills like immorality, cultism and drug abuse in the country and he offered medicine through teaching people fear of Allah , helping the needy learning the holy Quran, recitation and memorising it , and glorifying the name of Allah frequently? Offering salutations to the holy prophet and seeking for Allah s forgiveness"
They prayed that ,May Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala) forgive him and grant him eternal rest in Jannah
