NEDC, ASSEP Organize STEM Training for Teachers in Bauchi

The North East Development Commission in collaboration with the Accelerated Senior Secondary School Education Programme (ASSEP) has conducted a two-day in-person training for STEM teachers in senior secondary schools across Bauchi State.

Speaking during the training, the ASSEP Bauchi focal person, Hajiya Ladi Mohammed Hamma, disclosed that 100 STEM teachers were carefully selected from all 20 local government areas and public schools in the state to participate in the capacity-building program. She explained that the objective of the training is to strengthen teachers’ competencies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, adding that participants are expected to step down the knowledge gained to other teachers in their respective schools.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, described the training as timely and in line with the education policy of the Bauchi State Government under the leadership of Senator Bala Mohammed. She noted that the initiative is aimed at equipping teachers with modern teaching methodologies and improving science education in the state.

The commissioner expressed appreciation to the North East Development Commission and ASSEP for organizing the training, emphasizing that education is a collective responsibility that requires collaboration and external support. She urged participants to make effective use of the opportunity for the benefit of students and the overall development of the education sector.

Participants at the training also pledged their commitment to utilize the knowledge gained and ensure its dissemination to other teachers. The training, which had 100 participants, focused on enhancing teaching practices and strengthening STEM education delivery in Bauchi State.
