The National Chairman of the African Democratic Party ADC Senator David Mark has invited the Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to join ADC as part of effort to unseat the All Progressives Congress APC in the 2027 General election .
David Mark who sent a Powerful delegation led by the former Secretary to the Federal Government Babachir Lawal to Bauchi commended the governor for his doggedness and sterling leadership qualities
Babachir said their visit was at the instance of the party’s National Chairman, aimed at inviting Governor Bala Mohammed to join the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He described the Governor as a fearless political figure whose entry into the party would strengthen its chances in future elections.
Babachir said the need for opposition's to unite and warned that failure to consolidate efforts could have serious consequences for Nigeria’s future.
He warned that Nigeria faces disaster if the current government continues in power beyond 2027, emphasizing the need for opposition parties to unite and challenge the APC.
“We are here in Bauchi today at the instance of our National Chairman, Senator David Mark. Senator Mark sent us here because he’s fully aware that the coming battle between us in 2027 to elect new people to lead Nigeria can only be successful if all the various segments of the country that have good intentions and goodwill towards Nigerians are able to unite to stand and resist the impending disaster that is waiting for us in 2027,”
Responding Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, said discussions is ongoing to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing the party’s potential to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Governor Bala said the ADC’s national chairman, Senator David Mark, had extended an olive branch, inviting him to join the party.
He said that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is currently headless, and efforts to reconcile differences within the party have failed, leaving him under pressure from supporters to explore other options.
“We have found ourselves in a very serious ambivalence where our party is headless. We have to find a place within the opposition. That is where our fate and political destiny are taking us to. And ADC appears to be a very enduring and acceptable platform,” he said.
Governor Bala said that the decision to join the ADC is not taken lightly, but the party’s structure and leadership make it an attractive option.
He assured that discussions are ongoing and that the ADC is the preferred destination, but other options are being explored.
He said since he has role in the national leadership of the PDP he will consult with other stakeholders so that they can have a collective decision to move in train to ADC.
The meeting comes just days after Governor Bala Mohammed convened a stakeholders’ meeting of the PDP in Bauchi, aimed at resolving internal disputes and fostering unity within the party.
Political observers say the latest development could significantly reshape the political landscape in Bauchi State and beyond, as preparations gradually build toward the 2027 election
